Week two of my joining the ranks of the excommunicated and I could not feel any better despite the church is not air conditioned. If the priest has to wear those heavy vestments in this heat than I can certainly wear a coat and tie. 90 degree heat today and I am sure the modernists are saying, “See, your being punished for leaving the ICKSP that had air conditioning. I guess its either that or some of pope Leo’s global warming.

The first trip coming home all I did was make wrong turns today I got smart, If the road does not look familiar after a mile or two, go back. Result was only got lost once coming home, its that dog gone traffic circle in Troy that messes me up all the time! My biggest gripe is RT 47, nothing but construction and stoplights between Huntley an Woodstock. However I got to church an hour before mass so I took the time to sit in my air conditioned car figuring out a new route home. Divine inspiration! I found it! No construction and only a few stop and go lights in the towns themselves. Really a stress free drive home.
Finally out of the car and heading into the church about 10 am, there was a couple coming in a little younger than me. I smiled and said, yes, I am a newbie. I got return smiles and a welcome. Wisconsin folks are certainly friendly sorts. So we got to chatting about the history of the church and what brought me there from the ICKSP. I told them 2 weeks of canon’s verbal assaults on the SSPX sent me packing. The couple arriving was the head usher and his wife. I found out the church was bought by a lay group for private use back during the bishop Weakland dictatorship. You know the diocese, sell to the Muslims but heaven forbid sell it to the SSPX.
Before mass we talked about the cruelty of Leo in this whole matter of the consecrations. I said that is why I’m here. The more I thought about this over the last 2 weeks the more I could see the difference between the institute and the SSPX. In my opinion the SSPX will fight modernism. In the words of newly consecrated Bishop Goldade, “Modernism is an acid that destroys all it touches”. The institute on the other hand will accept modernism as long as they can have their Latin mass and sacraments. Case in point, Low Sunday there is now known as Low Sunday/Divine Mercy Sunday. They even had a verbal recitation of the chaplet of diving mercy after the high mass. Some of their locations actually offer a Novus Ordo mass on Saturdays. At least the canons do not do those fortunately.
Compare them with automobiles. The SSPX is like a Toyota Corolla. They will dependably get you to where your going. The ICKSP, the Rolls Royce. The pomp and circumstance of their masses can not be beat, a thing of beauty. However remember what they say, beauty is only skin deep. I will stand pat with the Society since I made the switch. I have always been a meat and potatoes guy. I’ll take my Catholicism straight thank you very much, you can keep the side dressing.
Positive stats. The Lady told me since the consecrations their attendance has been steadily increasing so I guess I am not the only one. I can attest to that. Today’s mass was full. Nice work Leo, how is that excommunication working out for you?
Then the side benefits of driving to Wisconsin every Sunday. For one its beautiful. There are also some great local farm stands with fresh vegetables and brown eggs. Of course this time of year nothing beats sweet corn with butter. Since I am a huge train buff cutting my teeth on the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee electric railroad the Troy museum main line runs between Troy and Mukwonago along main street. Today I actually caught a CTA electric train in service.
I still love the ICKSP I just wish they would wake up and realize who their real friends are and I assure you its not Cardinal Burke.
