Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Brown Ale

I have been home brewing since 2008. I love the hobby and the best thing is you can drink your mistakes. I ran into the Tridentine brewing boys over in X (Twitter) a couple of years ago. Their motto is brewing for the greater glory of God. How can anyone find falt with that. They really impressed me with their enthusiasm and their zeal in not only brewing but giving credit to God for the talents he gave them. I got some great tips from them on home brewing that I really think improved my brews. As they told me 90% of brewing is basic cleaning and sterilization. Since that tip I have been putting out some dynamite stuff.

A major thing I respect from them is they name their various brews after saints. When you think about it everything done in the middle ages was done for the glory of God. If you work hard to make the best product you can you dedicate it to God who is the one who gave you the talent in the first place. So taking a lead from them I called what I think is my best brew, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Brown ale. I call it that because one of the ingredients is a #120 Carmel malt. Here is my recipe.

Grain Bill

Steep the ingredients for an 1 1/2 hours

5 lbs 2-Row Pale ale

2 1/2 lbs Munich Malt

2 1/2 lbs Carifoama Malt

1 1/2 lbs Carmel malt #120

Hops Bill

1 oz Willamet (bittering) 1 hour

1 oz Tettamger (flavoring) 1/2 hour

1 tsp Irish moss (clerifyer)

Safe Ale US-05
