We all know what Leo and the boys were up to. Try to disgrace the SSPX in order to siphon the faithful from the Society to what they call a “Unified church”. They even pressed into service the Ecclesia Dei groups who tried to chide their congregations into feeling guilt if they supported the SSPX and for good measure threw in some accusations of committing a sin by supporting what is left of the real church. Problem is it’s having the reverse effect of Tucho’s intent.
I was listening to Frank Walker Stumbling block this morning. He said the amount of people leaving the SSPX is………………..Zero, zilch, nadda. Unlike 1988 with the first excommunications since rescinded, we have the internet. We now know what Leo and the boys are up too. That is excluding trad inc. I am talking about the guys interested in the survival of the real church and not monetary rewards or recognition from the Vatican. Guys like Frank Walkers canon 212, Chris Jackson Hiraeth In Exile, The Catholic esquire, and of course the great Mundabor. This is probably why the last sermon from my old ICKSP canon was cautioning against seeking derogatory information on the internet about the state of the church and once again the sin card was dealt out. Its transparent, the information he feared getting out was info delivered by Catholic bloggers supporting the SSPX and justifying the Episcopal consecrations. The Vatican wants us to just shut up and tote the line like a Catholic Sgt. Schultz. “We know nothing.” Sorry, I just can’t.
I think while no one is leaving the SSPX on the contrary, people are moving towards the SSPX. Yours truly is one example. After 20+ years with the Institute I finally bolted to the Society. I have also talked to people on substack who used to attend ecclesia dei groups but are now making the move to the SSPX. In addition last week at my new home St.Pius V church I talked to the wife of one of the ushers who told me attendance has been growing steadily since the consecrations. It all adds up to the fact the Society is definitely in the drivers seat. The momentum is with them and growing. While the Novus Ordo world in closing churches the SSPX is building more and building bigger churches. I tell ya………………Its a beautiful thing!
