So far I have been at my new SSPX chapel for 2 1/2 months and I am living the dream! I found the true Catholic faith again! To date I have been exposed to 3 SSPX priests and without exception all sermons were excellent! Meat and Potato Catholicism. All the essentials there every Sunday for me and my soul.
Tuesday the 29 of September is the feast of the Dedication of Holy Michael the Archangel. So Fathers sermon this morning was all about St. Michael and the valuable roll he plays in our salvation. He told us that this feast day used to be a Holy Day of Obligation it is just that important. The day is also listed as a first class feast day so it ranks up there with feasts of Our Lady and Our Lord.
I think there is good reason for this as well. The St. Michael prayer was written by pope Leo XIII (not to be confused by the current Leo who apparently has no ties to Catholicism) in response to a vision he had on demons destroying the church. He instructed the prayer to be read after the low mass for the protection of the faithfull and the church. From what I understand there is a longer version as well to be only recited by priests. It is a form of exorcism. Then in 1962 the fruits of Vatican II eliminated that the prayer be recited after mass. Since then the Catholic church has been unraveling at great neck pace.
In his sermon father mentioned that today many Catholic bishops are banning the recitation of the St. Michael prayer in their diocese’s. Father did not name names but I think one was Blase Cupich of Chicago. The same Cupich that tried to give a lifetime achievement award to the political abortionist Dick Durbin, another faux Catholic. Durbin being more political hack than apostate Catholic declined to receive the award. No doubt trying to enhance his urban legend status. That stands to reason as this is also the same make believe faux Catholic Bishop who forbid his priests from praying in front of abortion mills when he as bishop of Spokane.
Again father named no names on who the Benedict Arnold clone bishops were but he did add at the end, “I have to ask, who’s side are you on?”. EXCELLENTLY put. Who’s side are they on? Certainly not the side of the church.
You all see what is happening here. Faithful Catholics are being disarmed. They took away the Tridentine mass, the divine presence and replaced with a quote from St. Matthew 18:20, “For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” That is the Novus ordo mass in a nutshell. Its all about you and your neighbor, not about the passion of Christ. They downgrade our Spiritual leaders. Mary is no longer co-mediatrix. That is an insult to a women who mirrored the same sufferings of Christ during her entire life time. All she endured and suffered and Leo and Tucho basically spit in her face. I am sure this action also saddens St. Michael. I suppose its just a matter of time before they tell us the rosary should not be prayed, its only to be used as a decoration to hang on your car’s rear view mirror.
This is what makes the SSPX so crucial. Fr. Mary-Isaac Relyea was interviewed by John Henry Weston on lifesite. Fr. Relyea is a traditional Franciscan priest. 21:03 in the video he lays out a terrific defense for the Society and why we need them today. Fr. Relyea suggests doing a daily full 15 decade rosary every day for spiritual help in our current crises. I started it today on my hour and 45 minute drive to mass this morning. It is not that bad or overwhelming. I will be doing it every day now. Its like a good book you can’t put down till you finish.
