Last Sunday at my SSPX chapel our priest talked about the angels. Specifically our guardian angel. I don’t know the protestant belief but as Catholics we believe that God assigns an Angel guardian for us from conception, when life begins.
He talked about Pope Leo, and, no not this dope, Leo I or Leo the great. He is perhaps best known for meeting Attila the Hun in 452 and persuading him to turn back from his invasion of Italy. He has nothing in common with Leo XIV this current maniac. But I get off track. Our priest also said Leo I is also noted for his statement, “Make friends with the holy angels. Since then I have been trying to get to know my angel so I talk to him sporadically thru the day. I like to ask questions and wait for a response. Generally silence, but then again I am just getting to know him.
This morning, while I was praying my rosary I think I got an answer of sorts. I ask him if Guardian Angels get sad when the person they are assigned to is aborted as a baby. I think he said yes. Something about how much they love people and they are saddened that they are not even able to help this person get to heaven. Like they are taken away from them.
You see Gods plan for our relationship with the angels is to help get us to heaven. According to our priest, if you hear of the death of a person and have an urgent need to pray for them chances are it was their guardian angel asking that your guardian angel for prayers. This is something St. Padre Pio did all the time. If he wanted to see some one he had his guardian angel talk to that persons guardian angel and every time that person would show up saying something like, “I felt you wanted to talk to me”. Padre Pio was also know for his excellent confessions. Many times he would use the angels to better understand a persons sins.
I have to say knowing my angel is there with me all the time I never feel alone. I am hoping that our relationship will just grow and deepen.
