News is all over the internet now how the SSPX is banned from Lourdes. I think the mass is banned from Lourdes and not the people. Which in many ways is far worse. This is nothing new and affects all TLM communities and not just the SSPX. I am sure even with the FSSP, ICKSP, and the others no Latin mass can be read there. Again this is nothing new.
When I belonged to the ICKSP we had a yearly pilgrimage to holy hill in Hubertus, Wisconsin just a little North west of Milwaukee. My mother and the family used to travel there from Chicago in Uncle Stanley’s Oakland. In those days literally a days trip. They got there and stayed in one of the shrines visitor rooms. The next day it was all about refreshing their Catholic faith. Inside the basilica are hundreds of canes, crutches, and wheel chairs left there after the healing of our Lady. They are still on display if you go to their website. They built strong hearty Catholics in those days! The shrine is very popular even today drawing 300,000 pilgrims every year.
The yearly pilgrimage from the Institute to holy hill originally involved high mass in the beautiful basilica there. After Francis Traditiones Custodas that changed. The Tridentine mass was banned from Basilica. The institute adjusted. One of the Canons had parents with a farm close buy. They said mass in the barn they fixed up for mass. Kind of symbolic since Christ was born in a stable.
My new SSPX chapel also had a pilgrimage just last week to Holy Hill. I asked one of the long term member of the shrine if the Society had the same fate. He said yes they could not read mass in the basilica. They or now I should say we, since I registered with the chapel last week, rented space outside the shrine for mass. Ironically that the basilica is dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. I assume that to mean all Catholics. Its almost like Rome is spitting in our Lady’s face with their actions.
Something of note here. Remember in the movie Catholics, the crystal ball of the modernist church, the shrine at Lourdes was shut down. More predictions from the 1970s. All the fake tears of Leo and his apostates are laughable. We are persecuting you people in the name of unity. Their idea of unity is at the end of a whip.
Wouldn’t it be easier to allow any Catholic group to use the facility for mass. It may be a stretch to allow a Jimmy Martin or Fr. Pfleger type mass there, but for the sake of unity let the people sort out the wheat from the weeds and the Jimmy Martins will loose every time.
