Yes, I know Matthew’s verse, “Truly I tell you, He said, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”. I don’t think that means we should shift our mind in neutral and just walk comatose around the earth.
I am getting bummed out with this circular firing squad in twitter that developed after the Episcopal consecrations. SSPX, facing off against the Ecclesia dei groups of which the FSSP is one with the sedes throwing gasoline on the whole mess. I know the church is in a mass, I get it. I know at this point all that is left for the faithful remaining Catholics to follow our consciences. Its confusion wherever you go in the church and we know confusion is the work of the devil. Currently I attend an ecclsia dei community oratory of the Institute of Christ King. The one thing they really excel are the excellent Rubrics. They are impeccable and can not be beat. However with the Episcopal consecrations I decided to fully embrace the SSPX. I see it as an investment in the future. Anyone wishing to go another route, more power to you or as Emeril Lagasse used to say, “You ain’t hurt’n my feelings”.
What bothers me is that the ecclesia dei proponents are going off half cocked which is one thing but they are actually arrogant about it. I think they are unware of a few facts here. For anyone who does not know, the FSSP was established when 12 priests left the SSPX after the last excommunication scam. John Paul 2 welcomed them with open arms and gladly allowed them to set up a TLM order the only caviet being they had to say at least one Novus Ordo mass every year. Kind of their loyalty oath. The reason they were allowed the Latin mass was to openly challenge SSPX chapels. I had a friend attending a SSPX told me they literally established a FSSP church within walking distance. The reason for this is obvious. Siphon who ever the could from the SSPX hopefully resulting in the extinction of the Society. The FSSP have been groveling at the feet of the modernist pope ever since.
However Rome has just completed Phase 2 of their 3 phase program. Phase 1 was to completely destroy the TLM on the dioscean level. Mission accomplished. Phase 2 to neutralize, via excommunication, the SSPX. Mission accomplished. Phase 3 dismantle the FSSP, ICKSP and all the ecclesia dei orders. Understand Latin has no place in Leo’s church, remember what he said in reference to the SSPX Consecrations, “I will make one more appeal but then we will just move on”. Move on to what? The Synodal church for one. Women priests? A women pope? Is this what you guys want, is this the price you want to pay for an approved Pope Leo Latin mass? Anyway if in your heart you think this is the way to go then more power to ya and I wish you luck.
The Institute of Christ King owns little if any property and I think the FSSP is set up the same. In essence they have been given permission by the the local bishop to read the Latin mass at a designated church which the diocese owns but allows them use of. That bishop can kick out these orders at a moments notice, just like they did on the diocesan level. In Chicago the pilot plan enacted by Cupich occurred a few years ago. He approached the ICKSP accusing them of using the pre 1950 holy week missal and forbid the Latin mass there. In God Father style the Institute was told they could resume the Latin mass if they signed his Bergolian “loyalty oath” that they would only recognize the mass of Paul VI as the only true mass of the church. The institute did refuse the offer citing it would go against their constitution and the masses there ended. Interesting side note, St. Galatius in Woodlawn now called Church of Christ the king is one of the few properties the institute owns. Just before they were going to start mass in the renovated church a terrible fire gutting the entire church. They had insurance which Cupich immediately pocketed gave the institute the lease and told them if you want to rebuild raise the money yourself. Just curious but I wonder where Cupich was the night of the fire. I am sure he was busy hearing confessions or reading a mass or doing something Catholic.
If you thinking, oh the “Holy Father” would not do that to us! Yes Pope Pol Pot most certainly would. In fact its already happened. Recall the Franciscan friars of the immaculate. They were a thriving and growing TLM community, they had a publishing house, growing numbers of vocations of nuns and priests and ever increasing faithful followers. Then Francis stepped in and as a result the order no longer exists.
I give credit to Leo for one thing. He is a lot craftier and devious than I gave him credit for. No wonder he had all those Democrats visit him in Rome, Fatman Pritzker, Rham Emmanual of about 30 corrupt Chicago alderman. If anyone can instruct him in underhanded deals its that crew. He not only destroyed the SSPX but has all trads at each others throats and that includes the so called trad inc. Don’t you see what the cheap political thug is up too. Keep them at each others throats and they won’t have a chance to organize. So much for Michael Matt’s uniting of the klans.
Follow you conscience, that is what I intend to do. If you feel more comfortable with a FSSP mass, great, but please don’t go accusing anyone else of schism when it actually does not exist. In the words of Father Davide Pagliarani “We are all one Catholic family”. In the masses of the SSPX in the canon they read the name of Leo as pontiff, and the local bishop. That is definitely not Schismatic. I prefer to make an investment in the future of the church, and investment that will give me more priests, more chapels, more nuns, more schools.
