Red Herring defined as: A red herring is something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important question. It may be either a logical fallacy or a literary device that leads readers or audiences toward a false conclusion.
Its evident the handling of the SSPX episcopal consecrations by Cardinal Tucho Fagnandez was a miserable mistake on the part of the Vatican. Leo shot himself in the foot on this one. I think the major mistake was they were still looking at this as a reenactment of the SSPX consecrations of 1988. At that time very few people had experience the true mass of the Tridentine. It became a minor footnote in the news. In addition Rome had not yet gone completely off the rails. We had bad popes since Pius XII but at least they had some semblance of Catholicism. Now with the Bergoglian line of popes things have completely gone insane.
A huge factor in all this was the internet. The Vatican could no longer hide under a cloak of secrecy people could now see what is going on in the church simply by going to the web.
A huge reason for the growth of TLM attendance was the creation of the Ecclesia Dei groups. You may know them as the FSSP, ICKSP and such. This came about with the defections of 13 priest from the SSPX who were given permission from Rome to continue the Latin mass under the group priestly fraternity of saint Peter or the FSSP. The object of this was transparent. Draw the faithful from the SSPX and after their demise, get to the task of neutering the Ecclesia dei groups as well. The Fssp as I understand must read one Novus ordo a year to prove their allegiance to the Vatican.
Another factor is Surmonium Pontificum by Pope Benedict. One of the few things he did right. This gave exposure to the real mass. People began coming out of curiosity then they realized its beauty and devotion and that all actions and Latin Verbiage reflect various doctrines and dogma of the church . Novus ordo attendees started to resent the fact aunt Maud was distributing communion at their local parish and not the priest. They began to resent that their heritage was stolen from them by the shenanigans of Vatican II.
While the SSPX was begging to talk to Pope Leo to present their case Leo was hiding out at various global warming conferences or Mosques. Only a village idiot would fail to see what Leo was up to here. Let the SSPX bishops die off and the society would of splintered into insignificant groups or defect to the Novus Ordo all together. Fortunately for the church the consecrations went on and carried on live stream so Catholics across the globe could see the real church as it was before Vatican II. Almost 20,000 people were in attendance in Econe, with who know how many more tens of thousands watching via live stream. People watched and they liked what they saw. Newly SSPX consecrated Bishop Goldade said that “Modernism is an acid that destroys everything it touches.” Music to a real Catholics ear, finally a bishop who realizes the problem and is willing to combat it. Bishop Goldade was in charge of the SSPX seminary in Virginia so we know his Catholicism will be instilled in these future priests. You will not find this devotion to real Catholicsm in the Leo’s crowd of bishops, who only talk about Synodality or gay blessing or women priests.
So the excommunication degree was issued which, except for the usual Vatican toadies like Pudge Lewis or Grifter Marshall, spurred even more devotion and admiration for the SSPX. I do not attend a SSPX chapel but if one was closer I would so I sent a donation to the society in hopes of also being excommunicated. I just got done reading an article by Mundabor. He suspects the few othodox bishops and cardinals left are distancing themselves from an incompetent Vatican. The talk is now Fernandez lied about his qualification get his current position. This excommunication decree was written so badly I wonder if it was written in crayon. In a way the Vatican stooges have organized for themselves a kind of circular firing squad.
However there is a grey cloud on the horizon. Many orthodox bishops are realizing the Leo church is loosing badly at this. They are calling for a repeal of Traditiones Custodas and wider use of the TLM. Archbishop Corleone is the latest one. This would be the worst possible thing that can happen!
Its not about the mass in Latin. Its about the dogma behind it. That’s what they don’t get. You can have your novus ordo mass reverently in Latin but the dogma is not there. It may be beautiful but its like putting lipstick on a pig.
If Traditiones custodes was repealed it would be a disaster returning us to the limbo we were in 15 years ago where the Latin mass existed but had no real future. I think Benedict realized that which was why he defined the TLM as the extraordinary rite and the Novus Ordo as the ordinary right. He must of known the two would never exist under the same roof.
As long as the SSPX is strong we have a very real chance to take our church back from the vandal invaders and their puppet pope. Some say I love the Latin mass but this excommunication business scares me so I better to go to the FSSP. That is fine the masses are the same but I would rather support the SSPX who will never knuckle under over the ecclesia dei who are essentially in bed with Rome. This is where the red herring comes in. Keep the faithful focused on a mass in Latin and they won’t notice the real destruction going on in the Church and now modernism is “like an acid” eating away at Catholic doctrine.
