Ever since the SSPX announcement the make believe canon lawyers and pretend theologians have been sounding off right and left. Most seem to be aligning with trad inc. “If the sspx does this thy are in schism and as such will go to hell!”. They are worse than church lady on the old Saturday night live. Funny how so many of them are so intimate with God that they know exactly what he is thinking.
I saw one guy on twitter, a holy cross father since he had CSC after his name. He boldly said that if the SSPX went thru with this they were condemning themselves to hell. Well…………I went to a CSC run high school in the Chicago area. This was 1967 – 1971 right after the meat hooks of Vatican II started to tear the church apart. Father F was a freshly ordained one right out of the University of Notre Dame, you know the land of back door Buttigieg. One day in religion class Father F was asked if he did not have to read mass on Sunday, would he still go to church. He quickly said no. Kind of speaks volumns doesn’t it.
A few years ago I did some research to try to find out what happened to my former teachers. I was amazed to find that 4 of them including Father F had sexual abuse charges raised against them and were no longer priests. The CSC priest on twitter might be a good priest, I don’t know but I guess he never heard of the biblical phrase “let he who is without sin cast the first stone”. Moral here is clean up your own house before you tell someone else to clean theirs.
Lets not forget if it was not for Archbishop Lefebvre the Latin mass would not exist today. Because of the SSPX we got The FSSP the ICKSP and a number of other ecclesia dei formed orders along with increased diocesan mass. The goal was to delute and eventually destroy the SSPX. Didn’t work there are now more people devoted to the Latin mass than ever. For a while Leo the Liar had them eating out of his hand, kind of like Satan showing Eve the apple. I am really shocked the SSPX finally stood up and fought back for the first time in decades. I am convinced as to where the SSPX goes so goes the Latin mass.
Chris Jackson is predicting a last minute deal between Leo and the society. Chris is good at what he does and seems to have his finger on the pulse of the church so his odds of being correct are better than average. Personally I hope he is wrong but July is a long way off, plenty of time for Leo to swoop in “save the day” making things all better for the SSPX. Afterall negotiations are still underway. Maybe this was planned to cement unity with the Remnant zip it crowd, who knows. All I know is Bobby Prevost is a shifty SOB and if I ever shook hands with him I would want to count my fingers to make sure I got all 5 back.
Although I am not a canon lawyer or theologian, of which there are so many on line the last few days I do have the ability to think out of the box. So here are my 3 possible scenario’s.
Scenario #1 – Mommy will make it all better and kiss the boo boo theory. Under this Leo will swoop in at the last minute to add to the tension and drama. A deal will be done with the SSPX continuing to drink the Vatican II kool-aid. I can see Trad inc. the likes of Mike Matt and Taylor Marshall literally pee’ing in their pants now with excitement. “Yes he is a great, pope, a wonderful pope, a true unifier. The Vatican vandals can continue then to quiety delute then destroy the real faith. The SSPX will then go down as a minor footnote in history. He might even throw them a bone by giving them a bishop who actually helped him win the conclave in none other than Cardinal Burke. Although if I was a fisherman I think I would throw him back.
Scenario #2 – The basket of rotten apples theory. Vatican/SSPX talks will continue ending in stalemate. A few years ago talk was that Latin mass locations would be whittled down. We are actually seeing that today. Diocesan masses are nearly non existent now. Next phase will be to destroy the ecclesia dei orders. Don’t doubt this, I am sure they have plans for this already. This will drive people to the SSPX for the mass and the sacraments. At that point the society and all members will be excommunicated. In a flash all dissidents will be removed. I am sure that is music to Leftie Leo’s ears, being the Chicago Democrat socialist that he is. Its simply “The Chicago Way”.
Scenario #3 – The regrown gonads theory. Under this there will be no reconcilliation with Rome and things will resort back to 1988 and a strong devoted SSPX. They will have learned a lesson and will lick their wounds and rebuild. This is my Scenario of choice.
What is lost in all this is exactly what the Latin mass is. I hear its beautiful, I like it, but………… Its all about doctrine, the mass reflects the doctrine. The TLM is the unbloody sacrifice at the altar, the NO is a recreation of the last supper. The TLM is in Latin, a dead language which will never change. Prayer in Latin today carry the same strength as they did 1,000 years ago. Words in the vernacular are constantly changing. Cool used to mean the weather, now it means something exciting. Gay used to mean carefree now it means something else. It also makes it easier for the priest to ad lib. Look at all the invalid baptisms performed by that priest in Arizona because he decided to change a word. If it were done in Latin there would be no mistake its all carved in stone.
I was not a big fan of Benedict but keep in mind he made the distinction between the Extraordinary rite and the ordinary rite. Even he realized two different mass for two different religions. The two can never exist under the same roof they are so opposite.
I hope things return to 1988 but I think Chris Jackson is right. The two sides are just negotiating using the consecrations as leverage. Soon we will be back to Leo’s antics of destruction and synodality, and global warming, and illegal alien havoc with no one to speak out against them. Then again secularism is what men of no faith always turn to.
Remember if the SSPX is destroyed there will be no one left to stand up for the true church. This old poem is very relevant.
